Forward Role host Manchester PHP event
Last week Forward Role hosted a PHP event; featuring three spectacular speakers who discussed all things PHP and dug deeper into the world of Laravel and Docker. It was a great opportunity for likeminded developers to take on board new ways of using technology.
We began the evening with a brilliant presentation from Andrew Kirkham, CTO at Lavatech, who covered Laravel Applications setup locally using Docker, he gave us the opportunity to look into how this benefits his business. Following on from Andrew we had Jacqui Pickup, Software Engineering Manager at Broadstone, covering the benefits of working with an MVP - which was also a really interesting topic. It was great to hear how Jacqui has found the importance of using this technique in her current position.
After Jacqui’s talk we had a short break, giving everyone the chance to eat plenty of pizza and grab another beer before we heard from Kieran. Kieran Innes, CTO and Co-founder at Tootoot was named on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2017. He finished off the discussions with a great insight into his current business model and kicked off our Q&A session, answering questions from developers from a multitude of backgrounds.
Both Andrew and Jacqui joined Kieran in answering questions covering their thoughts on PHP for the future, the benefits of using PHP as a tech stack, along with more in depth questions into their own personal experiences with different technologies.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who attended and a huge thank you to Kieran, Andrew and Jacqui. We plan on hosting another event in the near future so please do be sure to keep your eye out for any future events on our Events Calendar and LinkedIn page. Also, if you are a PHP Developer based in the North West and considering a new opportunity, please get in touch, I’ll be more than happy discussing options with you!
