This is a topic that I am coming across a lot lately, especially when speaking with developers. There is an understandable feeling of fear around moving to a new role in the current situation.
Personally, I have been on the other side of the fence, having recently started my position here at Forward Role, so I get it, I get how scary and daunting the thought of moving can be. It’s pretty scary right?!
You do start to overthink certain elements of it, like the fact that you will be going through a whole new probation period, a new company, new colleagues, and the potential to be on boarded remotely and only bond with your colleagues over Zoom.
Zoom....who would have thought it would become such a big part of our day to day!
Anyway, I get it. I have been there, but I also know what it’s like to not be happy in your current role, to feel that you aren’t developing or progressing no matter how much potential you have. I know how it feels to feel like you have stopped growing as a person.
Just think about it this way, it’s almost been a year since the country went in to the first lockdown, a whole year!!
If you are someone who has related to this post, my advice would be to stop depriving yourself of a new opportunity, stop holding back!
If the main obstacle holding you back is the remote aspect of the whole process, then check out our Remote Interview Advice and first-hand advice on how to start a new job and become part of the team remotely.
If you are the right person for the role, and back your ability, and back yourself you will be fine! It’s not that scary once you land your dream job. In fact...you might even wish you had done it sooner.
