Proposals Manager

£55,000 - £65,000 plus excellent benefits


This is a unparellelled opportunity in the North West to join one of the UK's leading law firms in their sizable bids team. The primary focus of the role is to manage the bid process, develop the value proposition, and improve the quality of pitches and proposals, working closely with partners, colleagues in the other proposals teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as a lead bid writer, managing bids end-to-end; from initial partner briefing through to post-bid debrief
  • Provide input to bidding go/no-go decisions
  • Work closely with partners and other team members, to develop the client value proposition to ensure bids convey engaging and compelling messaging. Draft, edit and proof read compelling content, reflecting agreed messages
  • Develop a solid understanding of the firm, including relevant practice and sector areas, as well as our competitive positioning
  • Ensure that each bid / proposal is logged on the relevant trackers; solicit and record the outcome together with any feedback
  • Conduct win/loss reviews, identifying themes and addressing appropriately
  • Work closely with the Executives to identify the information needed for each pitch and support them in gathering that information
  • Support the Global Head of Bids in developing a global and joined-up approach to the management and delivery of proposals
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams to develop the quality and effectiveness of their proposal service

Key requirements:

  • Degree educated, ideally with post-graduate legal and/or marketing qualifications
  • Marketing and business development experience in a professional services context, ideally legal
  • Experience of working in an international business environment that requires buy-in and engagement of senior management or partners and working across cultures successfully
  • Experience of relationship management and winning new business (either active involvement or supporting others to do it, i.e. in a way which is a relevant to selling services and building propositions around products/services)
  • Proven track record of project management and delivering against objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen clarify and share information easily
  • The ability to build strong working relationships and to be able to persuade and influence a range of people at all levels and across cultural and geographical boundaries
  • The ability to lead in an environment with a focus on continuous improvement
  • A diplomatic and adaptable team working style and works collaboratively with colleagues
  • Dedicated to meeting and exceeding customer expectations
  • Flexibility in approach and an ability to manage through change
  • Resilient and able to remain calm and positive under pressure and when dealing with ambiguity
