North West (Hybrid working – 1 day per week in office)

Forward Role have partnered with a leading UK based retailer to support the growth of their Data division. They have received a huge investment and are looking to bring in Data Engineers at all levels. You will be joining a growing team and gain further exposure to Azure as they are currently going through an exciting piece of data transformation migrating from on premise to Azure.

In this role, you will be responsible for the build of high quality, scalable and secure data systems. Which serve multiple users, provide reporting, insight and analytical solutions that comply with quality standards and technical expectations. You will work collaboratively with the wider function to ensure data systems meet business requirements.

The Role

• Evaluate current systems practices and determine potential improvements
• Work collaboratively with the change team to ensure there is a joined-up approach across IT and change teams
• Maintain and improve the performance of existing data/systems ensuring they are safe and reliable for business use
• Proactively identify and recommend improvements to optimise the delivery process, practices and tooling.
• Driving continuous improvement across the business
• Adhere to IT delivery governance policies and compliance standards

What do we need from you?

• Proven experience in data warehousing, data integration and business intelligence reporting
• Proven experience with SQL
• Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data factory, Azure Functions, Data lake storage)
• Experience of analysing data requirements and business processes
• The ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical colleagues and vice versa 
• The ability to deliver in an ever-changing environment
• A critical thinker with a solutions focussed mindset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
