Digital Planning Director, Global Media Agency, Manchester City Centre, £65k

Forward Role are working exclusively with a global award-winning media agency in Manchester City Centre who are renowned for their creativity and innovation.  Following a high-profile new client win, they are forming a brand new team and looking for a Digital Planning Director in a senior leadership role who will help develop communication strategy for one of the most innovative and exciting businesses in the UK!

As Digital Planning Director you’ll act as the lynchpin for execution across all channels (with a strong focus on digital) connecting comms strategy to implementational planning. You’ll have a proven understanding of the full comms spectrum and will have an impressive media background, with a specialism in providing a critical eye on digital performance and high value digital projects.

Due to the nature of the client, this Planning Director role would suit someone with a strong digital background who can provide a robust view on the clients digital approach, tying together their partners and capabilities.

As Digital Planning Director, you’ll ensure that communications strategies are implemented with both excellence and innovation and will play a lead role in moving the agency’s product forward. The key part of your role is to drive truly integrated multi-media solutions that utilise creativity, data across all touch points for a high-profile client in the sports sector.


  • Providing a holistic view on communications approach and execution.
  • Working very closely with the newly formed team for this account, including Strategy Lead, Business Director and Head of Planning to ensure comms strategy comes to life through media plans (in-house buying teams and activation specialists).
  • Be a leader for the planning output in new business pitches
  • Maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders for the client, as well as in-house digital buying teams and partner agencies.
  • Ensure that you are looking for ways to push forward the planning output for the agency, by inspiring and motivating the team around you.


  • An extensive and proven background in cross-media planning experience across multiple channels (with a particular emphasis on digital)
  • Naturally good at working with multiple teams and ensuring the approach is joined-up.
  • Strong understanding of both brand and performance media
  • Proven leadership skills and the impressive communication skills at a senior level
  • The ability to collaborate with a positive attitude and the a proactive approach
