Up to £70,000 DOE

Microsoft Azure - SQL - Python

Fully Remote – Multiple UK office bases (Can be visited by choice or for team/company events)

Forward Role have partnered with a leading UK based legal services business. Who are currently going through an exciting piece of data transformation migrating from legacy systems to Azure. As a result, they are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join their growing team.

In this role as a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the build of high quality, scalable and secure data systems. You will have a passion for inspiring best data practices and developing the capabilities of the wider team. You will work alongside other senior colleagues to implement the data strategy, whilst playing an integral role in redefining the data governance model across the business. Overall, you will contribute to the creation of a more robust data systems offering across the business. This is a great opportunity for those keen to gain further exposure in cloud based data transformation projects and their technologies.

The Role

• Leading a skilled Data Engineering team
• Adhering to standard methodology and principals
• Leading the build, test, maintenance and adoption of new data platforms across the business
• Supporting the growth of the data engineering team
• Evaluate business needs and ensure the data capabilities reflect this
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Assisting the Head of Data in developing the Data Strategy

What do we need from you?

• Strong background within Data Engineering
• A strong understanding of data architecture, data warehousing with an interest in machine learning
• Previous line management/mentoring experience
• Experience with Microsoft Azure – Ideally Azure Synapse and Apache Spark
• Strong experience with SQL and Python
• Proven experience in negotiation, communication and engagement across multiple levels of the business
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
