Hi, I’m Guy and I’m one of the Senior Managers here at Forward Role. Having finished at Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) marketing degree, my first role took me to London where I started working for an events agency, as a campaign marketer, before stepping into a broader marketing communications role for a global construction company.
After 7 years in London, enough was enough and the North beckoned me to return, which is where my marketing recruitment career started. I had an 18 month spell with a larger agency before receiving a message on LinkedIn from Steve, then a one man band, asking me to come in for a chat. He explained his vision for the business and expansion plans and this perfectly matched my own ambitions. 7 years later, I’m extremely proud to be part of the senior management team helping make strategic decisions about how we can become the UK’s largest and most respected marketing recruitment agency.
My focus at Forward Role is around client relationships, wider business development and managing our own Marketing and Agency teams. Outside work, I love getting all my walking kit on and exploring our beautiful countryside (Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire Moors), I enjoy eating out and I play football once or twice a week.
5 quick questions
1. Favourite boxset of all time
It’s a toss-up between Blue Planet, Sons of Anarchy and Game of Thrones. It also reminds me how production I could have been with my time if I hadn’t watched all of these twice over.
2. Tipple of choice
Whatever takes my fancy at the time. Lager in the pub with the lads or bourbon for later on in the evening, ice cold cider on a sunny day or a lovely bottle of red on a Friday evening after work.
3. Spirit animal
4. Favourite album
AC/DC, Back in Black.
5. Talent for…
Being a human IMDB – my powers of recognising a face on screen from years gone by is just plain weird. For instance, I recently recognised someone who I last saw playing the part of a young air stewardess in Passenger 57 (1992!).
I also watch a lot of documentaries so my knowledge of random facts is up there.
