About the Business

Our client is a contemporary fashion brand rooted in modern luxury and street-inspired design. Operating within the premium menswear market, the brand is recognised for blending trend-led graphics with a strong and consistent brand identity.

With a clear creative vision and ambitious growth plans, the business works to a dynamic drop model, launching seasonal collections and statement pieces that resonate with a culturally aware customer base. Collaboration, innovation and commercial awareness sit at the core of the organisation’s approach to product development.

Location: Manchester
Working Pattern: Full-time, onsite
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Experience Required: 5–8 years
Domain Experience: Premium menswear fashion

The Role

As Senior Menswear Designer, you will lead the creative direction of seasonal collections, translating cultural insights and high-level vision into commercially successful product ranges. Reporting to the Head of Product and working closely with the Creative Director, you will take ownership of the end-to-end design process from initial concept through to production and wholesale delivery.

This is a strategic and hands-on role, requiring a balance of creativity, technical expertise and commercial awareness. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the menswear range architecture, driving innovation in jersey and core franchises, and ensuring the brand remains competitive within the premium market.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Vision and Market Insight

  • Interpret global cultural movements and emerging menswear trends to inform seasonal direction.
  • Maintain strong awareness of aspirational peers and competitors to identify opportunity gaps.
  • Ensure all product aligns with the brand’s DNA and overarching seasonal narrative.
  • Champion a proactive and solutions-focused creative mindset within the team.

Technical Design and Product Development

  • Design across multiple categories with strong knowledge of silhouette, construction and fabrication.
  • Drive innovation within jersey and core franchise ranges, collaborating with in-house graphic design to refresh logos, washes, shapes and finishes.
  • Source and select premium fabrics, understanding weight, composition and durability to maintain market positioning.
  • Produce high-quality CAD drawings and detailed tech packs to support strong first-time sample approval rates.
  • Lead fit sessions alongside Garment Technology, refining proportions and improving existing blocks.

Strategic Range Management

  • Architect a balanced menswear range, incorporating core staples, seasonal drops and fashion-led statement pieces.
  • Analyse trade and sales data to inform future developments, ensuring creativity is commercially viable.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of each garment from concept through to launch.
  • Manage design review timelines and director sign-off milestones to ensure adherence to the critical path.

Supply Chain and International Development

  • Lead overseas development trips to manage sampling, resolve production challenges and identify new innovations.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure access to the latest fabrics and product developments.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor junior designers, ensuring high standards and professional development within the team.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across product and wider departments to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Clearly communicate design vision to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Key Skills and Experience

  • 5–8 years’ design experience within a premium menswear brand.
  • Proven experience operating within a drop model and seasonal collection structure.
  • Strong understanding of jersey development and franchise product evolution.
  • High level of technical proficiency in CAD and tech pack creation.
  • Deep knowledge of fabric sourcing, garment construction and fit development.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to interpret sales data.
  • Confident communicator with experience managing stakeholder relationships and supplier partnerships.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior design team members.
