Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and guide the initial implementation of our new Data Fabric framework. This role will focus on establishing the foundation of the platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, and transferring knowledge to permanent colleagues for long-term ownership and governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and deliver the initial build of the Data Fabric framework.
- Lead the implementation of Data Fabric within the new data platform, ensuring scalability and alignment with business needs.
- Provide guidance, governance, and upskilling support to permanent colleagues adopting Data Fabric practices.
- Manage and update Tasks and PBIs in Azure DevOps, in line with the company’s delivery cadence.
- Work with the ML Ops Data Engineering Squad to refine and estimate backlog items, in collaboration with the Lead.
- Design and deliver data solutions in partnership with engineering, architecture, and analytics teams.
- Ensure full compliance with enterprise-wide standards and governance frameworks.
- Create clear and comprehensive handover artefacts, including documentation and training materials.
- Facilitate a structured and effective handover process, ensuring permanent colleagues are fully equipped to take ownership.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading Data Fabric or modern data platform implementations.
- Strong expertise in data engineering, governance, and architecture within cloud environments.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps and Agile delivery practices.
- Skilled in backlog refinement, estimation, and delivery cadence alignment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience creating knowledge transfer artefacts and enabling sustainable handovers.
- Familiarity with ML Ops integration within data engineering workflows (advantageous).

- Type: Outside IR35
- Duration: 6 Months (with option to extend)
