DevOps Engineer (NPPV Cleared)
Location: Fully remote (UK-based) Salary: £55,000 – £95,000 depending on experience and SFIA level Clearance: Valid NPPV clearance requiredThe Opportunity
You will be joining a specialist engineering consultancy delivering secure cloud and software capability into policing and national security environments. The team is intentionally small, highly experienced and focused on solving complex engineering problems across cloud platforms, secure data systems and modern software delivery practices. This role sits within a long-term programme supporting the Metropolitan Police, helping modernise and evolve the technical platforms that underpin operational systems used across the force.Unlike larger consultancies where engineers can become siloed into narrow roles, teams here work collaboratively across the full delivery lifecycle. Engineers are trusted to contribute to platform design, automation and ongoing system evolution while working closely with both delivery teams and end users. The programme is expected to run for multiple years and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful public sector technology while operating in a capable, engineering-led environment.Another differentiator is flexibility. While many secure programmes require regular site attendance, this position is fully remote, allowing engineers to work on complex secure delivery while maintaining flexibility in how they operate. The Role
As a DevOps Engineer you will help design, build and evolve the cloud platforms, automation tooling and deployment pipelines that support secure software delivery across the programme. You will work closely with software engineers, architects and delivery teams to ensure platforms are scalable, secure and reliable while embedding DevOps best practices throughout the development lifecycle.Typical responsibilities include:• Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab to support reliable software delivery • Automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform • Deploying and managing containerised services using Docker and Kubernetes • Supporting secure cloud platform delivery across AWS or Azure environments • Implementing monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana or ELK-based tooling • Developing automation and operational tooling using Python or Bash scripting • Embedding security practices throughout the delivery lifecycle including SAST, DAST and automated security checks • Collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to evolve platform architecture and improve delivery processesThis role suits engineers who enjoy operating across cloud infrastructure, automation and software delivery, rather than specialising in a single narrow toolset. You may currently be working as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer or Cloud Engineer within a secure environment and looking for a role with greater autonomy and influence over how platforms are built and operated. The team values engineers who are adaptable, collaborative and comfortable engaging with both engineers and stakeholders as systems evolve.Security Requirements
